Continued support for John Hickenlooper in June allowed the campaign to increase its television advertising assets to $1.2 million, the campaign announced today.

Hickenlooper for Colorado reserved an additional $350,000 in television advertising, an investment that will effectively grow in value as Election Day approaches and advertising rates increase. The advertising time means Hickenlooper can remind voters he is the only candidate for governor who has run a small business, created jobs and balanced difficult budgets.

"We came into this race a year and $1 million behind," campaign manager Mike Melanson said, "but an outpouring of support for John's success in bringing business sense to government allowed us to have a successful fundraising period. We'll need every dollar available in order to run a positive campaign focused on creating jobs and growing opportunity in Colorado."

Financial reports due Tuesday will show Hickenlooper supporters gave $503,190 in contributions, exceeding the campaign's goal for the June fundraising period.

"We continue to be overwhelmed by the energy and excitement we encounter throughout Colorado," Melanson said. "Whether it is volunteering, coming out to meet us or fundraising, we can't say thank you enough."

The campaign will report holding $66,405 cash in addition to the $1.2 million in advertising time.
